Mr. Deepak Shrestha (Nepali: दिपक श्रेष्ठ) (born on 14th April 1977) is an extra-ordinary sportsman associated to Nepal Karate Federation, Shito-Riyo Karate Do who is the black belt 5th Dan holder as his professional qualification. He is two consecutive gold medalist of South Asian Game and current President of Nepal National and International Player Association. He has been working and experiencing in this field for many years with successful endeavour. To value his successful career, he has been awarded with numerous honour ships and titles. He got the title of Best coach in 2013/14 and was awarded Yubha Pratibha Puraskar from Ministry of youth and sports. Likewise, Suprabal Gorkha Dakchhin Bahu (3rd) from Late His Majesty late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shahadev – 1999, Bikhyat Trishaktipatta from former King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shahadev 2004, player of the year 2003 from National sports Council are some of his honourships for his dedication. These valuable awards are received with great deal of hard working, perseverance, and Striving.
He has taken special courses in this field which made him extra talented. Special Karate Training in Okinawa, Japan 2018, NSC High Level Sports Science & Planning Seminar (18 - 22 March 2018), World Karate Federation (WKF) Coach Accreditation Dubai, UAE 2017, Sports Science & Sports Management Course by National Sports Council (SAN), Kathmandu 2012, Special Karate Training in Iran 2001, USA 2007 & Malaysia 2012, Diploma in Referee Course, Kathmandu 2005 etc. are his dedications to get the qualification throughout his sports career.
Mr. Shrestha has gone through various international game. He got the remarkable position with impressive participation within the country and foreign land. “Victory in a match is not a victory in the life” Mr. Shrestha says. With his own goal and determination, he went through different championship. He was Gold medallist in 8th South Asian Games – Kathmandu, Nepal 1999 and in 9th South Asian Games – Islamabad, Pakistan 2004, and participated in 10th South Asian Games – Colombo, Sri Lanka 2006, Gold medallist in OZAWA Cup International Karate Championship – USA, Silver medallist and best fighter in 2nd Panatholon International Kids (Olympic) Karate Championship (Best Player) – Kathmandu, Nepal 1995, Gold medalist in 2nd South Asian Invitation Karate Championship – New Delhi, India 1997 etc. are his rewards and participations. He was a Gold medalist and best fighter in 1st Saarc Level Invitation Karate Championship – India in 1995. To complete his appreciation, it will be a great discussion matter.
He has been National Coach, Police Coach, and Referee. He served in Gwangju 2010, Bangladesh 2011, Inchon 2014, Jakarta 2018, Japan 2020 till present as a National team Coach. In addition to this, he worked as a Referee in national as well as international level. National Game, High School Championship, Tourism Cup Championship, Mis-Zone Karate Championship, Eastern Zone Karate Championship etc. are his dedications as referee.
Mr. Shretha, a true gem of Nepali sports, is always remembered for his great contribution for uplifting the Karate Federation and he has become a true encouragement for other players. We always wish for his welfare and want to give best of luck for his upcoming undertakings.
